CTC's Next Chapter: Mainnet CTC on CEXs + WCTC's retirement

CTC's Next Chapter: Mainnet CTC on CEXs + WCTC's retirement

If you've been with Creditcoin for a while, the moment you've been waiting for is nearly here.

In April 2019, Creditcoin mainnet produced its first block. What we hoped for then was simple: a world where people shut out of finance for having no credit history could finally be recognized by financial institutions by building their on-chain credit reputation.

The road turned out longer and harder than we imagined. In 2022 we rebuilt the chain on Substrate, and in 2024 we rebuilt it once more as today's mainnet with EVM support. Each time meant starting again from the ground up, and each time it tested our grit.

Those years left their mark in numbers: 7 years, three mainnets, more than 8.4 million blocks, and over 850,000 wallets that still hold CTC today.

Looking back, it took more than technology to get here. Without you, the CTC Penguins who walked this road with us, there would be no Creditcoin as it is today.

And now, the long-awaited moment is arriving: CEXs are getting ready to move from G-CRE, the ERC-20 version of CTC on Ethereum, to native CTC on Creditcoin mainnet! 🥳

For the first time, the CTC you trade will be the same CTC that runs the chain. We're making good on our promise to CTC holders: mainnet CTC at the center of our ecosystem and exchanges.

As we work with CEXs to move the CTC traded on exchanges to mainnet, you don't need to do anything. The CTC you hold on an exchange stays as it is. Each exchange will announce its own mainnet integration schedule.

If you withdraw CTC (G-CRE) from an exchange and hold it in your own wallet, we will swap it 1:1 for mainnet CTC. We'll share how and when separately.

Action needed: WCTC is retiring

As we prepare for this mainnet integration, we're ending support for WCTC on Ethereum and BNB Chain.

Bridging CTC from Creditcoin to WCTC is no longer available. Bridging WCTC back to mainnet stays open.

If you hold WCTC, please bridge it to Creditcoin on PenguinBridge, where it arrives as native CTC.
🐧 You'll need gas on the chain you're leaving (ETH or BNB).
🐧 Keep amounts to 8 decimal places or fewer.
🐧 Don't send WCTC to an exchange or to any foundation address. Bridge it yourself.

For WCTC on BNB Chain, change the source chain to BNB Chain.

After the CEX mainnet integration
You'll be able to bridge CTC from Creditcoin to the new CTC (ERC-20) on Ethereum. We'll share the details later - no new CTC contract address is being shared today. Any 'new CTC' address you see before our official announcement isn't from us, so be vigilant.

What's not changing
🐧 CTC token on the Creditcoin chain
🐧 WCTC in PenguinSwap on Creditcoin (a different token that only shares the name with WCTC on Ethereum and BNB Chain)

Finally, protect your funds at all times. We will never DM you or ask you to send tokens. Use only the PenguinBridge link in this post, and always check addresses against this post.

If you have any questions, email team[at]creditcoin.org or ask our community managers on Discord.

To the future of $CTC - cheers Penguins!
